Excellent Service at Canmore Service Canada Centre

I recently visited the Canmore Service Canada Centre to renew my passport, and I had an exceptional experience. Dora was incredibly helpful and made the entire process smooth and efficient. She provided fast service and took the time to explain everything clearly, which I really appreciated.

What stood out most was how kind and personable she was. It felt like I was talking to someone who genuinely cared and wanted to help, rather than just going through the motions. It’s rare to find such friendly and approachable service these days.

Thank you, Dora, for making what could have been a stressful task so much easier. I’m very impressed with the level of service and will definitely recommend this location to others!

I had a great experience here. I arrived at 8:32 am on Monday. There were 8 people ahead of me. The staff lady was friendly, helpful, and kindly told me about the approximate waiting time. She was the only officer, but luckily another agent came from Calgary to help.

Very rude staff member getting frustrated at an elderly couple for absolutely no reason. Not only that, they let customers enter the door 20 minutes before closing, and deny service because their 3 day weekend is more valuable than their job. Waste of time, do not recommend going here at all!

I just witnessed extreme rudeness by a male staff member who can be identified as being on the larger side. He could use some sensitivity and customer service training. I will go to Cochrane the next time I need anything. Not acceptable.

Do NOT renew your passport here, or do anything passport related here whatsoever. Drive to a Passport Canada office in Calgary instead. In March, I showed up at 10:00 and I left with my passport renewal complete around 15:00. An almost five hour ordeal including having to leave the office for a lunch break and come back afterwards.

The two women I spoke with were very nice and seemed perfectly competent — my underlying complain is emphasizing the extreme understaffing and exceptionally underfunded nature of this specific location.

Unfortunately the worst had yet to come. Even though I did my renewal in March — my passport was not mailed to me in time for my officially and legally declared travel date in May — even after calling Passport Canada to make sure it would arrive on time.

This resulted in me having to use my Irish passport to go on vacation to Mexico, and then I had to go to a Canadian consulate three times while on vacation to get emergency travel documents sorted so I could re-enter Canada.

Even though my passport was delivered to my mailbox while I was in Mexico, they wanted to declare it lost and cancel it completely, which would have had me do this entire process over again. Eventually, I got to a point after many conversations and employees speaking with other employees where they agreed it should be deemed "inaccessible", and that when I return home, I should be able to keep my passport.

The amount of time and money I have spent renewing my passport makes me feel like our country is an absolute disgrace.

For perspective, here is the Irish passport renewal process from Canada: submit your own photos online, and have a brand new passport produced and shipped all the way to Canada in a couple weeks flat.
